License renewal
Indiana real estate license renewal and CE
Renewals are handled by the Indiana Real Estate Commission (Professional Licensing Agency). Summary checked against the official sources in October 2026.
Renewal cycle
Indiana broker licenses renew every 3 years, and the renewal fee is $60. Notices go out about 90 days before expiration.
Continuing education
- 12 hours of CE every CE year, July 1 to June 30, to renew as Active. Inactive or Referral licenses do not need CE to renew.
- Hours above the minimum do not carry forward, and you must finish a whole course to get credit.
- You do not upload certificates at renewal; the Commission audits afterward, so do not renew until your CE is done.
First renewal
- The 30 hours of post-licensing education satisfy CE for two CE years. The CE year in which you were licensed does not count, so regular CE starts in the third CE year after it.
Late or expired
- A license expired less than 3 years renews for the regular $60 fee.
- Expired 3 or more years: reinstate with 36 hours of CE, the state exam portion and a $120 fee.
- Expired 9 or more years: retake the 90-hour course and both exam portions.
