License renewal
Kentucky real estate license renewal and CE
Renewals are handled by the Kentucky Real Estate Commission (KREC). Summary checked against the official sources in October 2026.
Renewal cycle
All Kentucky licensees renew in March of each even-numbered year, online in KREC eServices or with Form 208. Active licensees must buy E&O insurance before renewing.
Continuing education
- 6 hours of Commission-approved CE every calendar year, by December 31. At least 3 hours must be approved for law credit.
- The Kentucky Core Course is required once every 4 years, nothing substitutes for it, and it satisfies CE for the year you take it.
First renewal
- Sales associates licensed after January 1, 2016 must complete 48 hours of Commission-approved post-license education within their first 2 years of active licensure.
Late or expired
- Not renewing before March 31 of the even-numbered year cancels the license and adds fees, including a $200 late renewal fee.
