License renewal
Pennsylvania real estate license renewal and CE
Renewals are handled by the Pennsylvania State Real Estate Commission (Department of State). Summary checked against the official sources in October 2026.
Renewal cycle
Pennsylvania licenses expire May 31 of every even-numbered year. Renewal is online only in PALS, the salesperson fee is $96, and notices go out by email about 60 days before expiration.
Continuing education
- 14 hours of Commission-approved CE during each 2-year license period.
- The Commission publishes mandatory topics for each renewal period.
First renewal
- No CE is required for the initial license. New salespersons renewing for the first time must complete a specific set of courses listed on the Commission's education page.
Late or expired
- There is no grace period for renewals.
- To reactivate an expired license you document 14 hours of CE, and those hours cannot also count for the next renewal.
- You have 5 years from expiration or inactivity to reactivate without retaking the exam.
