License renewal
West Virginia real estate license renewal and CE
Renewals are handled by the West Virginia Real Estate Commission. Summary checked against the official sources in October 2026.
Renewal cycle
West Virginia licenses renew every year online from May 1 to June 30. The salesperson renewal is $75.
Continuing education
- 7 hours of Commission-approved CE each fiscal year to keep an active license, taken during the fiscal year before the one you renew for. Track it in CE Broker.
- Inactive licensees are exempt from CE but must still renew each year or the license is canceled. Activating takes 7 hours of CE.
First renewal
- If you passed both exams during the fiscal year of your first required renewal, you are exempt from CE when you renew on or before June 30 of that fiscal year.
Late or expired
- Not renewed by July 1, the license expires. Late renewal: add $50 (July 1 to August 31), $75 (September 1 to October 31) or $100 (November 1 to December 31).
- Not renewed by December 31, the license is canceled and you must reapply.
