What is buyer representation agreement?

A buyer representation agreement is a written contract between a homebuyer and a brokerage that sets the services, the term and how the buyer's agent is paid.

In practice

  • Many MLSs now require a written agreement before an agent tours homes with a buyer.
  • State law and brokerage policy decide what the agreement must include.

General information, not legal, tax or financial advice. Rules vary by state and MLS.
