What is MLS?

An MLS (multiple listing service) is a database run by real estate professionals where member brokers share listings and offer cooperation to other members.

In practice

  • MLS data feeds many public home search sites.
  • Each MLS sets its own rules, for example on how virtual tours and branding may appear.

General information, not legal, tax or financial advice. Rules vary by state and MLS.
