License renewal
Alabama real estate license renewal and CE
Renewals are handled by the Alabama Real Estate Commission. Summary checked against the official sources in October 2026.
Renewal cycle
Alabama salespersons must complete continuing education each license period to renew an active license.
Continuing education
- 15 clock hours per license period: 3 hours in the Commission-approved Risk Management course and 12 hours in other Commission-approved courses.
- Associate and qualifying brokers take 3 Risk Management, 3 in the Broker course and 9 other approved hours.
- Motivational, personal development, sales meeting and in-house training courses do not count.
First renewal
- If you do not finish the 30-hour post license course and get the original license within 1 year, the temporary license lapses.
