License renewal
Alaska real estate license renewal and CE
Renewals are handled by the Alaska Real Estate Commission (Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing). Summary checked against the official sources in October 2026.
Renewal cycle
Alaska licenses run 2 years and expire January 31 of even-numbered years, whatever the issue date. Licenses issued within 90 days of expiration run to the next expiration date. A renewal notice goes out at least 30 days ahead.
Continuing education
- 20 contact hours during the licensing period: the 8-hour core curriculum identified by the Commission plus 12 elective hours in approved subjects.
First renewal
- New licensees must complete 30 hours of post-licensing education within 1 year of initial licensure, in addition to the 20 renewal hours, and file the Affidavit of Post Licensing Education (#08-4326) with certificates and fees within 30 days after that year, or the license lapses.
