License renewal
Hawaii real estate license renewal and CE
Renewals are handled by the Hawaii Real Estate Commission (Professional and Vocational Licensing Division, DCCA). Summary checked against the official sources in October 2026.
Renewal cycle
All Hawaii real estate licenses expire December 31 of even-numbered years. The renewal filing deadline is November 30 (November 30, 2026 for this cycle), so your new pocket ID is ready by January 1.
Continuing education
- 20 hours of approved CE each biennium (January 1 of odd years to December 31 of even years) to renew on active status: the 6-hour Commission core course and 14 elective hours.
First renewal
- If your salesperson license was issued in an even-numbered year and you renew by November 30 of that year, you are deemed to have met the CE requirement for that renewal.
Late or expired
- Not renewed by December 31, the license is forfeited on January 1. Restoring within 1 year to active status needs proof of CE. Between 1 and 4 years: 30 elective CE hours, the prelicensing course or the exam. Between 4 and 5 years: pass the exam.
