License renewal
Kansas real estate license renewal and CE
Renewals are handled by the Kansas Real Estate Commission (KREC). Summary checked against the official sources in October 2026.
Renewal cycle
Kansas licenses renew every 2 years in the Public Portal. The salesperson renewal fee is $125, and a courtesy reminder goes out 45 days before expiration.
Continuing education
- 12 hours to renew active, including at least 3 hours in the approved Kansas Required Core course.
- Only one 3-hour appraisal-type course counts per renewal period. CE done on the same day as your renewal applies to that cycle only.
Late or expired
- If CE is not done by expiration, renew as inactive, or renew late once the hours are done. Any renewal after the expiration date has a $100 late fee.
- An expired license must be renewed within 6 months or it is forfeited. Stop licensed activity once your license expires.
- Reactivating after 2 or more years inactive takes 6 extra hours per full year inactive, and after 5 years you must also pass the exam.
