License renewal
Nebraska real estate license renewal and CE
Renewals are handled by the Nebraska Real Estate Commission. Summary checked against the official sources in October 2026.
Renewal cycle
Initial Nebraska licenses are issued for a calendar year and expire December 31; later renewals are for 2 years. Notices go out in October, and renewals with CE and E&O insurance must be in before December 1 (renew by November 30).
Continuing education
- 18 clock hours every 2 years for active licensees. At least 12 must be Commission-approved CE, including at least 6 hours of designated subject courses marked "R"; up to 6 may be Commission-approved training.
- Licensees who provide or supervise property management need 3 hours of approved property management coursework each 2-year period.
- You cannot renew on active status until your CE is met and your E&O insurance is verified. Inactive licenses must be renewed too.
First renewal
- If you renew in the same calendar year your license was issued, CE is not required for that first renewal. For example, licensed in 2026 means renewing in 2026 for a 2-year term, with CE due at the 2028 renewal.
Late or expired
- After the deadline, a late renewal costs the renewal fee plus $25 for each month or part of a month starting December 1, and must be filed before July 1 of the next year.
