License renewal

Oregon real estate license renewal and CE

Renewals are handled by the Oregon Real Estate Agency. Summary checked against the official sources in October 2026.

Renewal cycle

Oregon licenses expire based on your birth month, so the first period is usually shorter than 2 years (at least 13 months). After that, each period is 24 months. You can renew in eLicense starting the first day of the month your license expires.

Continuing education

  • Active renewal: 30 hours of CE, including a 2-hour Fair Housing course (required since January 1, 2026) and the 2- or 3-hour Law and Rule Required Course (LARRC). Active renewal fee is $300.
  • Enter your course information in eLicense before or during renewal, and keep certificates for 3 years. Extra hours do not carry over.

First renewal

  • First active renewal: the Fair Housing course, LARRC and the 26- or 27-hour Broker Advanced Practices (BAP) course.

Late or expired

  • Inactive renewal needs no CE and costs $150, but you cannot do real estate work while inactive.
  • If you miss the expiration date, you have one year to renew late (active late renewal is $300 plus a $150 late fee, and your principal broker transfers you back in). After one year the license lapses.
