License renewal
Utah real estate license renewal and CE
Renewals are handled by the Utah Division of Real Estate. Summary checked against the official sources in October 2026.
Renewal cycle
Utah licenses are valid for 2 years. The renewal window opens 45 days before the last day of your expiration month, and all renewals are online through your UtahID account.
Continuing education
- 18 hours of certified CE every renewal cycle, with at least 9 core hours. Three of those core hours must be a Division-approved 3-hour mandatory course (residential, commercial or property management).
- Finish all CE by the 15th of your renewal month to make an on-time renewal. Renewals are subject to audit.
First renewal
- At your first renewal: the 12-hour New Agent Course, a 3-hour mandatory course and 3 more hours of core or elective courses.
Late or expired
- If your license expires you cannot work until it is reinstated.
- Within 30 days: complete the 18 hours and pay a $50 late fee plus the renewal fee.
- 31 days to 12 months: the license becomes expired-inactive. Complete the 18 hours, pay a $100 reinstatement fee plus renewal and activation fees, and re-activate with a brokerage ($15 activation fee).
- Past 12 months: you must relicense as an original applicant.
